I just returned from one of the most rewarding tattoo conventions of my life in terms of awards. I have never managed to take home so many prizes in a row at a single festival.
At this convention, I won Best of Friday, Best of Saturday, Best of Color Tattoo, and third place in Best Color Realism. Around 400 tattoo artists participated, so the competition was very strong. I also met some amazing artists. Across from me was Marta Make Tattoo from Italy, a talented artist and really pleasant person to talk to. I also had the chance to chat with the organizers, who are genuinely invested in the event and passionate about making it successful.
My team came to support me. Tania, @green.vesper, went on stage with her fully healed thigh and sleeve, and with that piece we also took an award. Artyom Session presented a portrait of the Deftones vocalist on his leg, and there were other artists with our collaborative projects. Overall, the convention was extremely productive: many stage appearances, lots of recognition, and the feeling that all the work we put in was worth it.
Now the most practical task is figuring out how to get everything home. The trophies and awards take up a lot of space and have definitely made my bag heavier. But this is the kind of "baggage" that is really nice to think about.
