Second Place in the NeoTrad Category at Moscow International Tattoo Convention 2021

Tattoo convention
After all the COVID restrictions, the Moscow Tattoo Convention 2021 felt like a breath of fresh air. For two years, everyone stayed at home, nothing was happening, and suddenly there were open spaces again, live people, the noise of the hall, competition, and the tattoo community finally coming back to life.

It was especially nice to feel that familiar drive again: artists missing conventions and each other, the jury, the stage, the categories. The joy of meeting people, talking, discussing work—everything that had been sorely missed during the pause. It is also great to have the opportunity not only to meet but to participate and bring home awards.

At this convention, we presented the sleeve of Tania, @green.vesper, which has long since grown beyond just a sleeve: her thigh was added, and the project developed into a large, cohesive composition. In the NeoTrad category, this piece took second place, and for a post-COVID comeback, it was a solid start. It feels like things will only get more exciting from here: new conventions, new trips, and new awards.

Next on the agenda is a trip to Novosibirsk for the Battle Royale Tattoo event. This is not a traditional tattoo convention, but something with a focus on learning and competitive elements. The organizers promise a fresh approach, different from the standard idea of tattoo events, so I am curious to see how it will be realized in practice.
